I had heard that New Zealanders like to be “PC”, as they say, before I arrived on this Pacific Island, although I don’t think I fully grasped the scale of what PC meant to New Zealanders, that is, until today.
Today my kids were taught the words to “Baa Baa White Sheep” at Playcentre. Does anyone remember this one from preschool? I suppose these new lyrics are meant to help eliminate racism, although in my opinion it points out racism where none previously existed! The original song has nothing to do with race, and if it does, then it has already done its part in being “PC” by asking the black sheep, rather than the white sheep, if it has any wool.
Anyway, I couldn’t help myself. Baa baa white sheep has taken it too far!
